Dr. Pham Gia Bach

Pham Gia Bach earned a Ph.D. in Bioanalytical Chemistry from University of Massachusetts, Amherst – USA (UMass). During his Ph.D., he applied membrane protein to analyze biomolecules. Dr. Bach had chances to work with leading research groups from University of Illinois at Urbana – Champaign (UIUC), Imperial College London… in interdisciplinary projects, such as utilizing DNA molecules for data storage and transferring DNA in antibiotic-resistant bacteria.

After returning to Vietnam, he joined the Department of Analytical Chemistry at Hanoi University of Science – Vietnam National University (HUS - VNU), where he adjusted his research direction to study the application of aptamer (short DNA molecules) in determining small-molecule targets in environmental and biological samples, including but not limited to drugs, biomarkers, and toxic molecules.

He currently focuses on combining aptamers with nanoparticles for developing aptamer-based biosensors.
